<p>PHOLOGO MOGWERA, the deputy chair of Alex Liquor Traders, has accused Brigadier Albert Maphoto, the Commander of Alex Police Station, of being arrogant. This after Maphoto closed 64 Tarvens and Sheebens that were allegedly not complying. The members of his organization gathered at Alex Stadium and marched in a peaceful manner to the Alex Police station. The formal structure of traders, formed a few weeks ago, has over 200 members. Phologo said the most challenging issue “is that when the station commander comes, he does not give a warning. He just takes alcohol. Even if there are documents, he takes the alcohol. He is running his own world alone”.</p>

<p>“And when they take your alcohol, they don’t record it and don’t explain where the alcohol is going. Few people have returned to claim their alcohol but they couldn’t get everything. And when they ask, they are being sent from the pillar to the post.” Phologo also claimed that they were failed by the liquor board. “You go there and apply, they give you a permit but not a license. There are people at the Liqour Board who are issuing fake permits and it is on record.” He stated that the police’s use of force and shutting down their source of income was causing more problems for them. “We feed our kids from these businesses.</p>

<p>The traders were determined to have the commander gone! “We want to know, who is giving him authority to do that because it costs payers money. When he comes to an outlet, he takes 15 vehicles with him. And when community members report crimes, they will be told that there are no cars. “We want him to go... he is very arrogant and he thinks he is Mugabe. He is a dictator. We have previously dealt with individuals like him in Alex. We are not doing anything bad. We are not criminals, but businesspeople. “Must we go back to committing crime now? I’m damn 52- years- old. If I’m arrested and sentenced to three years, what will happen to me?</p>

<p>“During our last meeting with the police, he was given a memorandum but threw it. He is arrogant. He is not interested in listening to others.
