Food parcels for the poor

<p>MANY residents have been benefiting from food parcels when PR Councilor Shadrack Mkhonto took to donating. Since the lockdown started, Mkhonto, affectionately known as the mayor of Alex, has collected food parcels from different donors and gave to the needy. “All the people who collected their food parcels phoned me prior. Some of them sent me messages because they heard that I’m giving food parcels. Immediately when I get food from private donors, I send these people messages to say that, lets meet somewhere. That’s how I work,” said the councilor without borders. When responding to the caller who contacted Alex FM last week claiming MKhonto only gives food to the DA members, he said: “I don’t discriminate based on your political affiliation. When people request food from me, I don’t even ask if they are members of DA or not. And it is not even for me to judge on the person who is not a South African; I just give to the deserving members of the community.”</p>
